Data Storage Management in Machinechat JEDI
Take control of your historical IoT data with JEDI's Data Storage settings. Choose what to log, define retention periods, and optimize your disk usage.

Global Enable/Disable
- Enable/Disable Data Storage Toggle: Provides a master switch to activate or pause all data logging. Disabling data storage is necessary before configuring other settings.
Managing Stored Data

- "MANAGE DATA STORAGE" Button: Opens a tree view of your logged data, organized by metric, date, and size.
- Selective Deletion:
- Utilize checkboxes to select specific days and metrics for deletion.
- Click the "Trash Bin" icon to perform the deletion.
Important
Deleting a metric for a given day removes data from all devices sharing that metric name.
Storage Policies
- Store all metrics: Log all incoming data from your configured data sources.
- Store all metrics retaining data for __ days:
- Enter the desired retention period in the field.
- JEDI automatically purges data older than the specified threshold.
- Store selected metrics:
- Opens a form to choose specific metrics.
- Set individual retention periods (in days) for each selected metric.
- The metrics list dynamically presents only those actively received by JEDI.

Key Considerations
- Storage Planning: Factor in the frequency of your data, the number of metrics, and desired retention periods when configuring your storage policies.
- Regular Review: Periodically review your stored data and adjust retention settings to optimize disk space and align with your analysis needs.
Tip
- Start conservatively: Begin with shorter retention periods and expand as you understand your storage needs.
- Prioritize critical metrics: Apply longer retention policies to the most valuable or analysis-intensive data.
