Upgrading Machinechat JEDI

Upgrading Machinechat JEDI is a smooth and straightforward process due to its single-file architecture.

Info

  • Always create a backup for safekeeping, even though upgrades typically don't disrupt your data.

  • For major version upgrades, refer to the release notes for potential changes that might require additional steps.

Steps:

  1. Backup: Before upgrading, create a backup of your entire Machinechat JEDI application folder. This includes all configuration settings and any stored data.

  2. Download: Visit the Machinechat website and download the latest version of Machinechat JEDI for your operating system.

  3. Stop JEDI (if running): If JEDI is currently running, stop the application process. To quit JEDI using jedi-cli enter the command quit.

  4. Replace Executable: Replace the existing mcjedi.exe (for Windows) or mcjedi.bin (for macOS/Linux) file with the newly downloaded version.

  5. Restart JEDI: Start the Machinechat JEDI application. Your existing data and settings will be preserved.
